Baramulla: Scores of Anganwadi Workers of ICDS projects of Tangmarg and Kunzer under the banner of Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association Tangmarg on Tuesday staged strong protest demonstration at Tehsil office Kunzer  against government demanding payment wages of their election duty during UBL/Panchayat elections 2018 like other employees.

The workers raised slogans in support of their demands and boycotted the one day training program on EVMVVPAT and urged election authorities to release their incentives in their favour.

“Chief Electoral Officer J&K has directed to all District Election Officers to conduct one-day training of Aganwari Workers, ASHA Workers to be held today vide its order number 2657/CEO/pub/19/20076-176 dated 02-02-19 but we boycotted the training as we were not paid for our duties which we preformed during UBL/ Panchayat elections,” said Jabeena Akhter president AWWA Tangmarg.

She added that when all employees are paid for the election duties why Aganwari Workers are not being paid despite performing their duties under unfavorable circumstances.

While addressing the gathering, Jabeena Akhter criticized the Government and election authorities for alleged anti-workers attitude towards low paid workers as they are struggling from a long period for their genuine demands and paid very low salary.

“We have decided to boycott all trainings for upcoming elections till our incentives are not paid,” said Jabeena.
