Pulwama, Feb 05:  The Low Tension (LT) transmission line secured to wooden logs and tree trunks in Muchpuna village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is posing constant threat to the residents here.

Inhabitants of Muchpuna village in the outskirts of the Pulwama town said they have secured the LT transmission line to wooden logs and tree trunks because the wooden electric poles, installed fifty years ago, had almost decomposed and were on the verge of collapse.

The residents further said the transmission line secured to wooden logs reaches to nearly 80 households. “Two years ago, our village committee made a proposal to Power Development Department (PDD) officials for demanding a transformer and new electric poles but only a transformer was provided to us. Not even a single electric pole among the decomposed one was replaced,” they added.

When contacted Assistant Executive Engineer PDD Pulwama, Gulzar Ahmad Khan, said: “The issue has not been brought into my notice and now when ‘Kashmir Images’ has apprised me of the same, I will look into the matter.”
