Srinagar police solves theft case

Srinagar: Police has solved a theft case and recovered mobile phones and accessories worth lacs of rupees in Srinagar.

A police spokesman said that on 12-01-2019, Police Station Rainawari received a written application from one Sahil Hussain Dar son of Gh Hussain resident of Khawajapora Syedapora Rainawari that some unknown person/persons have entered his Mobile Shop “A.S. Communication” near Rainawari Chowk  and have stolen mobile phones along with accessories worth lacs, during the intervening Night of 11/12 of January.

On this information, a case FIR No 03/2019 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Rainawari and investigation started.

A special investigation team was constituted which was headed by SHO Rainawari Ajaz Ahmad to investigate the said case under the supervision of SDPO Khanyar Raja Zuhaib.

During investigation, Police called FSL team on spot, collected chance prints and also collected/analysed CCTV footage of the said shop and the vicinity, said the spokesman.

During the course of investigation IMEI’s of stolen mobile phones were kept on surveillance. Two suspected persons identified as Altaf Ahmad Shah son of Mohammad Yousuf Shah resident of Khawajapora Syedpora Rainawari and Shahid Ahmad Bhat son of Assadullah Bhat resident of Rangparistan Rainawari were identified and called for questioning.

During questioning, the said suspected persons disclosed that they had hatched a conspiracy to rob the said shop from last few days and had already marked that shop. They further revealed that during the intervening night of 11/12 of January, the said suspects entered the shop after breaking the backside wall which they had already marked and robbed the shop, the spokesman said.

On disclosures made by the accused, stolen property including 35 cell phones and accessories worth lacs were recovered from their possession.
