Notwithstanding winter chill, a man is doing laundry – washing crewel fabric – on the banks of Srinigar’s Nageen Lake Sunday afternoon. Embroidered crewel is one of the famed Kashmir arts used for making curtains, table-covers, bags among other things and is in great demand both within Kashmir as well as in the markets outside the Valley.
