Sharma for optimal use of mechanized parking at Jammu City Chowk

JAMMU, JANUARY 25: Advisor to Governor, Kewal Kumar Sharma today asked the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) to formulate a comprehensive plan for optimal use of its mechanized parking   at City Chowk, Jammu.

The Advisor passed the directions while chairing a meeting convened to discuss the measures to be taken for the maximum utilization of the mechanized parking in the winter capital.

Financial Commissioner, H&UDD, K B Aggarwal, IG Traffic, Alok Kumar, VC JDA, Pawan Singh Rathore, Commissioner JMC, Pankaj Magotra and other officers attended the meeting.

The Advisor directed the concerned departments to take effective measures for optimal use of the said parking area besides reducing the traffic congestion at Raghunath Bazar and adjoining areas. He said that constructive solutions are required to attain desired impact for resolving the issue of traffic congestion in the busy markets like Raghunath Bazar.

The meeting was informed that the regulatory authority has moved a  proposal for reducing the parking charges to encourage parking of maximum vehicles inside the mechanized parking.

The meeting was further informed that the proposal to declare Raghunath Bazar and Kanak Mandi as Paid parking areas has also been moved.

The Advisor asked the concerned departments to take a sympathetic view before declaring City Chowk and Raghunath Bazar as No Rehri zones.

It may be mentioned here that recently Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association and Kanak Mandi Traders Association met the Advisor demanding declaring City Chowk to Shallamar as no parking and no rehri zone area besides declaring Raghunath Bazar as paid parking zone to reduce the traffic congestion in the area.
