Horticulture Department organises ‘Horti Vision-2019’

JAMMU, JANUARY 19: Department of Horticulture today organized a divisional level mega event Horti Vision 2019 here to motivate and aware the farmers about the various horticulture crops and use of new technologies in improving the produce.

The Horti Vision Mela was inaugurated by Secretary Horticulture Manzoor Ahmed Lone in presence of Secretary PHE, Farooq Ahmed Shah, District Development Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, IGP CIV PHQ, Dr. S D Singh, Director Horticulture, Rakesh Kumar Sarangal, Director Agriculture, H K Razdan, Director Sericulture, Gulzar Ahmed Dar and district level officers of Horticulture was also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, all the allied Departments of State and Centre showcased different varieties of fruits and also apprised the farmers about various schemes.

Machinery stalls were also put up at the venue wherein latest Tools, Implements, Farm Machinery and other Horticulture, Agriculture related products were displayed by different Companies, Dealers to facilitate the farmers.

The main objectives of organizing the Mega event was to provide a common platform for the Fruit Growers of Jammu Division to interact with different stake holders like Horticulture Experts, Scientists, Promising Entrepreneurs, Progressive Orchardists involved in the Development of Horticulture under one umbrella.

The Secretary said the Agriculture and allied departments are providing support to farmers both in plantation and mechanisation adding that the department has come up with various schemes which provide subsidy on high density plantation. The Secretary said they are providing subsidies to the farmers on the machines they purchase as per their requirement.

The district level officers apprised the Secretary about the different area specific fruit varieties.

Meanwhile the Secretary inspected the fruit stalls displayed at the event.

Later, an interaction programme was also organised in the auditorium in which farmers from all the districts of the division participated.

The Secretary also launched a toll free help line number to develop a good relation between farmers and the department. He said the purpose of this number is to solve the daily problems of farmers. A wall calendar was also unveiled on the occasion.

A play on the various horticulture schemes was also staged at the event.
