Kupwara boy receives invitation to join National Cricket Academy

Kupwara, January 15: A story reported by a local sports magazine caught the eye of an international cricket coach, Bruce Adams, as he invited a young cricketer of Kupwara to join the National Cricket Academy namely ‘Amenity Madan Lal Residential Cricket School’ at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.

“If Rameez meets the required standards, he will be awarded a scholarship,” International cricket coach, Bruce Adams, wrote on his social media account.

Rameez Raja who hails from Kralgund village of border district Kupwara has worked as a labourer to fulfill his requirements of playing cricket.  He has represented Sparten Handwara, YMCC Baramula and other top teams of north Kashmir.

Talking to Kashmir Images, Raja said that 2018 proved to be a very successful year for him as he scored 11 half centuries, took 17 hat-tricks with 5 times 5 wicket haul.

“Recently ‘JKSPORTS TIME’ carried a story which had made a mention of my outstanding performance during 2018. It was my good luck that the report caught the eye of international cricket coach, Bruce Adams, who has invited me to join ‘Amenity Madan Lal Residential Cricket School’,” he said.
