“There is a lot of originality and variety in the art works,” the press release quoted the curators as saying adding that in spite of the best efforts of art fraternity for popularizing art, art was unfortunately seen as a luxury and a prerogative of the very few. “What to speak of being able to appreciate art we don’t feel the necessity of learning about how to see art. At what stage we should teach our kids to do this does not appear to be a subject of any importance. Ultimately we end up in being unconcerned about art being a rightful social need and take it as none of our business to be concerned at all about art. We hardly think about collecting works of art for our houses, work places or institutions. We do not create enough demand for works of art,” Malkit Singh, the director of Art Space was quoted as saying by the press release.

Singh further added that Art space, Ajitgarh (Mohali) was a place that endeavored at trying to facilitate creating works of art by the artists, by providing required infrastructure and environment like working studio for artists, art students and art lovers in general. He further said that until art wasn’t promoted as a viable economic activity, there were lesser chances of keeping the morals of young artists intact.
