BARAMULLA, JANUARY 12: Additional Deputy Commissioner Farooq Ahmad Baba today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to finalize the arrangements   for the smooth conduct of Republic Day.

The meeting was attended by Director Planning A G Malik, ACR Baramulla Mohammad Abdullah Malik, besides District and Sectoral Officers of R&B, PHE, MVD, health, information, Municipality, Rural Development, Police, Army, CRPF, PDD and other departments.

The meeting discussed various issues with regard to peaceful celebration of Republic Day in the district. The meeting was informed that the main function in the district will be held at DPL Baramulla and it will start early in the morning with Shahnai Wadan. The Chief Guest will hoist National Flag and take salute of the march-past, which will be presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, IRP, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC and School Children. Cultural programmes will also be presented by the School children, while as prize distribution ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the function. It was told in the meeting that Republic Day function will also be organized at Sub Division and Tehsil level in the district.

Highlighting the importance of Republic Day, the ADC directed the concerned officers to ensure adequate arrangements of security, sanitation, healthcare, drinking water etc, to make the event a success. He asked for better installation of Public Address System, illumination of important government offices, beautification and cleanliness of the venue. The ADC directed the ARTO and SRTC to arrange good number of vehicles for participating students on the day of full dress rehearsal and for main function.

In view of current winter, the ADC asked the concerned engineers to keep men and machinery ready in case of snowfall.
