BUGROO (BUDGAM), JANUARY 09: Another educational institution in Budgam namely Government Secondary School Bugroo has joined Sitharan School in showing bleak performance in the annual class 10 results.

Established before six decades in 1957 on Budgam-Khansahib road and upgraded to Secondary level in 2010, Bugroo School has a roll of around 55 students with nine teachers, among these two students had participated in the matriculation exams, however, both failed to qualify.

According to officials, one student failed in all the five subjects, while other passed only two.

Pertinently, Sitharan Secondary School in Khag area of Budgam also showed zero result where not even a single student among 16 was able to clear exams.

The poor performance of the Bugroo School has raised questions over its functioning and education department of Kashmir.

Locals of Bugroo village exclaimed that what nine teachers of the school were teaching to students?

They alleged that the teachers often force students to do work of the school including washing of utensils.

Meanwhile, the teachers held thin attendance of the students responsible for zero result. “Students never came to school. We visited their houses but that didn’t work,” said Mukhtar Ahmad, a teacher. “We have now received orders to take remedial classes of failed students.”

Meanwhile, sources in the school told Kashmir Images that education department has forgotten this six-decade-old institution in terms of providing necessary staff.

“We have a Middle school level staff, baring one Master grade teacher we have eight teachers who can’t teach 9th and 10th students,” sources said. “This school was upgraded but is short of four-five Master grade teachers.”

Sources added that government should have transferred few teachers of lower classes and posted qualified teachers at the school.

Meanwhile, Zonal Education Officer Khansahib, Mohammad Ramzan believes that one student could get through after re-evaluation results would be declared as he has applied for the same.
