PHE causal laborers threaten Jammu march to press for demands

Srinagar, January 7: Kashmir Public Health Engineering Casual Laborers Union (KPHECLU) on Monday threatened to lead a mega rally to Jammu on January 13 in support of their demands including regularization and release of pending wages.

Addressing a press conference at Kashmir Press Club here, the casual laborers union President, Fayaz Ahmad Malik alleged that government despite assurances to regularize all causal laborers and daily wagers has done nothing so far in this regard.

He said the poor laborers who have been working in PHE and other departments continue to suffer following the governments lack of interest to resolve their genuine issues.

Malik said the government has even withheld wages of causal laborers thus putting them into extremely difficult situation.

He demanded that the government must resolve the long pending demands of casual laborers and daily wagers so that their families do not suffer anymore.

He said a all the daily rated, causal and need base workers of PHE department will lead a mega rally on January 13 from Srinagar to winter capital Jammu to seek redressal of their pending issues.

“A mega rally will be organized on 13th of January in which all the daily wage, need base, contractual and causal laborers are expected to participate. We will also hold a sit in outside Civil Secretariat Jammu in support of our demands,” said Malik.

He appealed the affected workers to be ready on January 13 for March to Jammu to ensure justice which is being denied to them is ensured
