DLSA organizes awareness, medical camp for senior citizens

JAMMU, JANUARY 07: On the directions of the Justice Rajesh Bindal, Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority, a legal Literacy awareness cum medical camp was organized by District Legal Services Authority for the senior citizens here at Old Age Home, Amphalla.

The objective of the camp, organised in collaboration with Health Department and under the supervision of DLSA Secretary Naushad Ahmad Khan, was to provide legal services and health facilities to the senior citizens besides educating them about various welfare schemes of Centre and State Government for their welfare.

Retainer Lawyer, Sumit Bhat along with a team of doctors and Para Medical Staff interacted with the senior citizens residing in the Old Age Home with respect to grievances both legal as well as their health issues. The senior citizens were also provided free medicines.

With a view to understand their problems and requirements, Secretary had feedback regarding issues pertaining to their grievances such as Old Age Pensions Scheme, their General Well Being, Re-settlement etc. and issued on spot directions to the accompanying Para Legal volunteers to take up the matter with the concerned departments.

The participants were also briefed about various welfare projects being implemented by the J&K State Legal Services Authority for the benefit of the senior citizens.
