SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 29: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today directed officers and Engineers of ERA to expedite the construction work on Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh and TRC mini flyovers by going for double shift   for the benefitting the commuters.

The Divisional Commissioner made these directions while reviewing the progress of construction works on the prestigious city developmental projects.

In view of huge volume of work, the Divisional Commissioner directed ERA to deploy additional labourers on Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover and TRC Mini Flyover (Grade Separator) immediately for their in time completion. He also directed the concerned officials to send the daily progress report to the Divisional Commissioner’s office for further necessary action.

Div Com stressed on the engineers and contractors to ensure judicious use of funds. He also directed them to ensure that the construction material is covered properly with tarpaulins or canopies during transportation to different locations along Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh and TRC Mini Flyover (Grade Separator) flyovers.

On the occasion, Div Com said that these flyovers will decongest traffic in the city and ease the movement of commuters besides large chunk of population gets relief from regular traffic jams.

VC Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) informed that Rs 30 crores had been approved for Multi-Level parking at old State Motor Garages, Lal Chowk under AMRUT scheme and till date 39% construction work had been completed. Similarly Rs 25 crores had been approved for Multi-level car parking at Sheikh bagh, Lal Chowk under AMRUT scheme and till date 34% work completed. Under the AMRUT scheme, Rs 5 crores had approved for Idle parking at Bus Terminal Panthachowk and till date 25% construction work were finished.

The Divisional Commissioner directed SDA to speed up the pace of construction works on prestigious parking projects in the city so that they will be completed in a stipulated time frame so that road side parking and regular traffic jams shall be reduced.

SDA also informed that Rs 10 crores had been approved under AMRUT scheme for Mechanized car parking in the Srinagar city.

Div Com asked Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and VC SDA to identify suitable place for Mechanized car parking outside the city-centre and submit the report to the Divisional Commissioner within a week so that the construction work will be started soon.

PDD were directed to float tenders immediately for the illumination of city bridges and other places so that the night scene of the city can be enhanced for the tourists.

The Divisional Commissioner reiterated that government is working round the clock for the development of the Srinagar city on the modern lines for the benefit of city habitants and tourists.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Director ERA Showkat Ahmad, VC SDA Sajad Hussain, Chief Engineer PDD Hashmat Qazi, Commissioner SMC Peer Hafizullah, Assistant Commissioner with Div Com Qazi Irfan and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
