Srinagar December 28: Paying rich tributes to Ishfaq Hussain Wani, who was killed in an encounter at Awantipora today, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has said that youth were spilling their blood for ‘freedom from India’ and that the leadership was duty bound to safeguard these ‘sacrifices’ with utmost commitment and dedication.

In a press release issued here, Geelani advocated unity for pursuing the ‘common goal’ and ending what he termed as ‘the age old slavery by India’. He also cautioned people against ‘stooges’ who, he added, were responsible for the death and destruction in the valley.

Geelani also condoled the death of former VC of Kashmir University, Hamdi Kashmiri terming him as a ‘literary legend’ who had made great contributions in promoting and propagating Urdu language.

Meanwhile Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohd Ashraf Sehrai, in a press release, has said that while youth were making ‘great sacrifices’ for the ‘cause’, it was the duty of the leaders to uphold and never undermine the same. “The youth are sacrificing their precious lives to end the forcible control of their nation and we are duty bound to carry their mission to its logical conclusion. The tyranny and oppression by India will not deter the people from continuing to peacefully pursue their struggle for right of self determination,” Sehrai was quoted as saying by the press release.

While paying tributes to the slain youth, Ishfaq Yousuf Wani, reportedly an MBA Degree holder from Pulwama, Sehrai said that Kashmiri people were facing the worst kind of ‘Indian state terrorism’ but despite that they would take their ‘liberation movement’ to its ‘logical conclusion’.

“We salute these brave hearts who sacrificed their lives for the great cause and reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue Kashmir liberation movement till taking it to its logical conclusion,” Sehrai said adding that Kashmir was a political dispute and should be settled according to the will of Kashmiri people.

Meanwhile, both Geelani and Sehrai expressed deepest sorrow and shock over the sad demise of mother in law of Jammiat e Ahlehadees president and prayed for the departed soul.
