Srinagar, March 3: Admitting ‘discursively’ their alleged involvement, Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) Saturday sought ‘general amnesty’ for twelve government employees who were ‘sacked’ on charges of being involved in 2016 unrest.

Addressing media at a local hotel here, EJCC an amalgam of various employees unions appealed the state government to announce general amnesty for twelve of its employees on the pattern of first time stone palters.

“We want the state government to announce amnesty for these employees the way cases were withdrawn against first time stone palters recently. We met Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary in this regard and also presented a memorandum to them,” said EJCC Spokesman Ajaz Ahmad Khan.

Khan however quickly added that the services of these employees were terminated on ‘suspicious grounds’ and that the government must reconsider its decision.

It is pertinent to mention that the state government dismissed services of dozen employees for “questioning the sovereignty and integrity” of the country and “violating the rules governing conduct of employees” in the state.

Criticizing BJP Ministers Chaudhry Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga for demanding CBI probe in Kathua rape and murder case, Khan said seeking probe by CBI is aimed at hushing up the case.
