Srinagar, Dec 25: A seven day Faculty Development program (FDP) for Teacher Educators started here at University of Kashmir on Monday.

The FDP (Workshop) is organized by Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MHRD, Government of India) in collaboration with the P. G. Department of Education, University of Kashmir.

The program  was inaugurated by Professor Mohammad Iqbal Mattoo, Dean and Head, School of Education and Behavioural Sciences, University of Kashmir in which he welcomed the participants and envisioned the purpose of the workshop.

The Director, Directorate of Distance Education, University of Kashmir Prof. Mohi-ud-din Sangmi was the Chief Guest and Key note speaker.

In his keynote address Prof Sangmi focused on the relevance of Gandian philosophy in the contemporary system of education and highlighted its practical nature and spiritual aspects.

About Nai Talim Prof Sangmi advocated that this method includes preparing the place of study and keeping it clean.

Besides, he advocated that there is a need to relate Nai-Talim and experiential learning with societal needs in innovative framework.

Prof. Nasreen, Department of Education Aligarh Muslim University was the Guest of honour on the occasion.

The inaugural session was attended by a score of teacher educators from different Colleges of Education and Faculty members of the Department of Education and Distance Education University of Kashmir, Srinagar.

The program  aimed to equip the teacher educators with the philosophy of Gandhi on Nai-Talim and to educate them about the experiential learning and wok education.

Mohammad Amin Dar Faculty member Department of Education conducted the proceedings of the programme in the capacity of the organizer of the programme. Dr. Syed Zehra – from MGNCRE developed the seven day schedule of this workshop and also proposed  vote of thanks on the occasion.
