Srinagar: On JRL call, funeral prayers in absentia were held at many places in which leaders and activists form JRL along with common people participated in large numbers, a statement issued by JRL said.

The statement said that leaders and activists from Hurriyat (G), Hurriyat (M) and JKLF organized various funeral prayers in absentia for militants who were killed in an encounter in Tral on Saturday.

Six militants of Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind including outfit’s deputy chief and a close associate of Zakir Musa were killed on Saturday morning in a gunfight with government forces at Arampora village of Tral.

Funeral prayers in absentia were held at Lal-chowk, Hyderpora, Nowshehra, Nawakadal and many other places, said the statement.

“Besides praying for the recent martyrs, participants in these funeral prayers meetings also prayed for the success of the sacred cause for which these innocent martyrs are laying their lives for,” said the statement.

Meanwhile in a joint press release issued on the occasion, JRL leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said that the authorities have from a long time adopted and executed the policy of choking very little space on peaceful political resistance in Kashmir and this suppression has now touched new heights as police is even trying to put a ban on funeral prayers and mourning’s too.

JRL said that Indian prime ministers appreciation for Kashmir police is actually for these kinds of oppressive measures and choking of peaceful political space because by these acts police has been pushing young Kashmiri boys to the wall and hence leaving no space for them but to sacrifice their lives.
