BANDIPORA, DEC 21: Absence of dialysis treatment facility in district Bandipora is giving a tough time to people here as the patients suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) are being compelled to seek the treatment in other districts.

According to the locals, the patients have to either travel to Sopore or Srinagar for undergoing dialysis treatment. “The travel and other expenses add to the inconvenience of people,” they said.

While terming the absence of a dialysis center as worrisome, the locals said that most of the districts in Valley have a dialysis center but district Bandipora lacks one. “It is so unfortunate that Bandipora is lacking this crucial health facility,” the local added.

When Kashmir Images spoke with doctors at the district hospital Bandipora over the issue, they said the concern of people is genuine as the dialysis center is the need of the hour in the district.

“There are around 50 patients in Bandipora who are suffering from CKD and are undergoing dialysis treatment in different district of the valley. We have taken up the issue with the concerned authorities who have assured us that district hospital Bandipora will soon get this facility,” a senior doctor at government district hospital Bandipora told ‘Kashmir Images’.

“Under Member Legislative Council (MLC) fund, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has allotted a package of around 32 lakh rupees and a total amount of 20 lakh has been released for establishing a dialysis center. The facility, comprising of two machines, will be capable of treating at least 6 patients in a day,” the doctor added.
