Governor’s message on World Wild Life Day

JAMMU, MARCH 02: Governor N.N. Vohra has conveyed greetings on the occasion of “World Wild Life Day” which is observed on 3rd March every year.

In his message, Governor has observed that the celebration of the World Wildlife Day in J&K provides us a valuable opportunity of raising awareness about the varied beautiful forms of flora and fauna which abound in the State. On this day we can also launch appropriate initiatives for making our people realise the manifold benefits which accrue from implementing conservation programmes.  He noted that the existence of wildlife makes a valuable contribution not only to promote and strengthen ecological welfare but also enhances social, economic, scientific and educational aspects of sustainable development.

Governor has suggested that the celebration of this year’s theme- “Big cats: predators under threat”- should be gainfully utilized to create awareness particularly about those species which are facing varied threats i.e. the lion, tiger, leopard, jaguar, cheetah, snow leopard, puma and clouded leopard. He appealed to one and all, young and old, to join hands for all required steps being taken to protect the habitats of the varied wildlife species which are speedily disappearing.
