JKAACL hosts Losar festival

JAMMU, DECEMBER 15- Famous Losar Festival-2018 of Ladakh was hosted in a extraordinary manner here today at Abhinav Theatre by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).

Over 4000 artists and  lovers of art participated in the day long Festival  featuring screening of internationally acclaimed film “Shepherdess of the Glacier” of renowned film maker of Ladakh Stanzin Dorjai Gya and colorful cultural performances by artists representing varying regions of Ladakh.

Many among audience and visitors were those who had first experience to be part of the Losar festival .

In first session, while expressing his views about the festival, the  Chief Guest Chairman, J&K Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali appreciated JKAACL for organizing the festival in a fascinating manner here for which it   deserves lot of appreciation.

He also hailed the role of Students of Ladakh for their enthusiasm and making the event memorable one.

Guest of Honour, Former Minister Tsering Dorjey, in his address, said that such  festivals are rarely seen not only in the State but even outside.

Secretary JKAACL Dr. Aziz Hajini  said that the Academy  feels honoured to host Ladakh Losar festival. “By organizing such events we celebrate the cultural and lingual diversity of the state” said Hajini while describing the role of artists and writers in spreading the message of love, brotherhood and oneness across the board.

The musical festival enthralled the jam packed audience. The evening session besides others was attended by Former Minster Nawang Rigzin Jora.

Renowned Ladakhi singers   Dorjey Stalcmo, Padma Dolkar, Faisal Khan Ashoor, Sheerin Fatima, Septay Hassan Kaleem (Balti), Mukhtar Ahmad Zahid (Shina) and Stanzin Edzes ( Barbei) also performed on the occasion

The   Festival was held in coordination  of All Ladakh Students, Association Jammu (ALSAJ), Students Association of Ladakh Jammu (SAOLJ), All Ladakh Students Welfare Association Jammu (ALSWAJ) and All Zanskar Students Association Jammu.
