Director inspects Mushroom Demonstration cum Training Center

JAMMU, DECEMBER 11:  Director Agriculture, Hari Krishan Razdan, today inspected the Mushroom Demonstration cum training Center here at Agriculture complex Talab Tillo.

He took stock of the farmers welfare oriented activities being undertaken by the Center.

Interacting with the officers and staff at the Center, the Director asked them to make every effort to motivate the farmers to follow the concept of co-operative farming and organize themselves into Mushroom Growers Associations, Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Self Help Groups (SHGs) for getting maximum profit through value addition by setting up their own production, canning or pasteurized compost units.

During his visit to Pasteurized Compost Production Unit, he was apprised that production of high quality Pasteurized compost up to 18 Tones per cycle within 18 days as against 28 days by traditional method, has been  made possible due to coming up of this unit. It was said that this will help in boosting the mushroom production in the Jammu Division.

The Director was informed that Pasteurized compost is being made available to the mushroom growers under Public Private Parternership (PPP) Mode on nominal charges. It was also informed that by the up gradation of Spawn Production Laboratory, the spawn production capacity will increase to 250 Tons per annum from 50 Tons at present for further supply to the Mushroom growers.

Deputy Director (Central), Span Development Officer, Mushroom Development Officer, Subject Matter Specialist, AEO Information, MDA, MRA and technical staff of MDTC were present on the occasion.
