Hashmee Club lifts District Football League trophy

BANDIPORA, DECEMBER 10: Hashmee Football Club Bandipora on Monday lifted the winners’ trophy of District Football League 2018.

The tournament was jointly organised by the District Football Association Bandipora and district administration Bandipora under Khelo India program.

In the final, Hashmee Football Club beat Sports Club Bandipora by 2:0. Aamir Bashir of Hashmee Football Club scored both the goals and was declared Man of the match while Sports Club Bandipora failed to score any goal.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was the chief guest on the occasion while Deputy Superintendent of Police Abdul Rashid Khan, District Information Officer Jehangir Akhoon, Tehsildar Headquarters Mubashir Saleem Nazki, Nodal Officer Khelo India, Peerzada Khurshid Ahmad Shah.

Speaking during the post-match ceremony, Dr Choudhary said that youth of Bandipora is doing well in the field of sports and have brought laurels for the State in national and international sports events.

He said the government will provide every possible support to provide better sports infrastructure in every village so that the youngsters can practice and showcase their talent in sports.

He said government intends to construct playfields in every village besides providing sports kits to the children. He said Khelo India aims to develop sportsmanship among the youth besides giving a flip to sports activities.

Dr Choudhary gave away the prizes to the winning and runners-up teams and congratulated the winning team for showing best performance throughout the tournament.

The winning team was awarded the trophy and a cash prize of Rs twenty thousand while the runners-up were given cash prize of rupees ten thousand. Man of the Match was awarded a special prize of Rs 1000.

The semi-finalists were also given a cash prize of rupees four thousand while each participating team was given two footballs.

Nodal Officer Khelo India, Peerzada Khurshid Ahmad Shah said about 700 players from 40 teams participated in the tournament. He thanked all the players and the district administration for lending a helping hand in conducting the tournament smoothly.
