“As the joint team intensified the searches and opened some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire triggering off an encounter,” a police official said.

He said a militant, believed to be associated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba group, was killed during the gunfight.

Meanwhile Internet services too were suspended in the area as a “precautionary measure”, officials said.

Pertinently,  two days ago a foreign militant who was injured in a brief exchange of fire in Hajin village succumbed his injuries and was later buried in the local graveyard in there.
