Dulloo for concerted measures on AIDS awareness, prevention

JAMMU, DECEMBER 01: Jammu and Kashmir State AIDS Control Society (JKSACS) in collaboration with Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu organized a mega function in connection with the observance of World AIDS Day in the Auditorium of GMC Jammu here today.

Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Atul Dulloo attended the function as Chief Guest.

A colourful cultural item on HIV/AIDS awareness was presented by the JKSACS of Milan Cultural and Social Organization Jammu which generated a lot of interest among the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary appealed people particularly youth to make concerted efforts on a sustainable basis to combat HIV/AIDS in the entire Jammu and Kashmir State and also to act as ambassadors of the AIDS Control Society.

On the occasion, the Principal Secretary also launched the folk campaign of the Jammu and Kashmir State AIDS Control Society which aims at creating awareness among the rural folk through the cultural way by involving different folk forms of the state. The Principal Secretary also inaugurated voluntary blood donation camp in the premises of GMC Jammu.

The Chief Guest also presented mementoes and certificates to various individuals, organizations and participants who have directly or indirectly contributed to strengthening the efforts of the AIDS Control Society.

Earlier, an AIDS awareness Rally of college/school students was also flagged off by the Project Director, JKSACS from Super Specialty Hospital, Resham Ghar Jammu. Students drawn from Red Ribbon Clubs of different colleges of Jammu participated in the Rally.

On the occasion, Project Director, JKSACS briefed about the aims and objectives of the rally and stressed on the participants for creating HIV/AIDS awareness among the public.

Among others, Mission Director, NHM, Dr Bhupinder Singh, Director, Health Services Jammu, Dr Sameer Mattoo, Director, Family Welfare, Jammu Arun Sharma, Principal, GMC Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina, Member Secretary, J&K State Legal Services Authority, Mohammad Akram Choudhary were also present on the occasion.
