Tral/Pulwama, Nov 26: Militants on Tuesday evening attacked an army patrolling party in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A police official said that the militants opened fire on an army patrol in Pinglish village of Tral. He said the soldiers retaliated, leading to a brief exchange of fire.

The exchange of fire continued for some time but no loss of life or injury took place during the incident, said the official.

He said the area was cordoned off to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, unknown persons on Monday evening also lobbed petrol bombs at the residences of a former Congress leader and a Panch in Tral.

A police official said that unknown persons lobbed petrol bombs at the residences of a Panch Abdul Rashid Bhat at Kuchmullah and former Congress leader Ghulam Mohammad Mir at Batagund.

He said the guards on duty retaliated but no loss of life or damage was reported in these incidents.

In the meantime, one person was abducted by suspected militants from Ruhama area of Pulwama.

Sources said that one person, Tanveer Ahmad Dar, son of Ali Mohammad, a driver by profession, has been abducted by the militants.
