Killing of six militants in Bijbhera encounter a major success: GoC 15 Crops

Baramulla: Terming the killing of six militants, including a Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Azad Malik in a  south Kashmir gunfight a “surgical operation and a big achievement for security agencies”, General operation Commanding 15 Corps AK Bhat on Friday  said that the operations was very prompt and very precise.

He said that the operation was successful as forces did not suffer any damages.

Bhat was talking to media on the sidelines of Gurpurb  function in Baramulla.

He said that this was a clean operation without any damage to property or civilian killings.

Replying a query about viral pictures of militants in Lal chowk srinagar last evening, A. K Bhat said that it is being investigated by police weather it is photoshopped or real.

“Our job is to neutralize militants where ever they are.So far the situation is normal in North kashmir as compared to South kashmir all with the help and cooperation of people of North,”he added

He was talking to media after attending Gurupurb celebrations in 46 RR unit of army in Baramulla. AK Bhat also visited Gurudwara Chatti Padshahi in Baramulla to greet people from Sikh community on this occasion.

Core commander added that in last 12 months more than 2 hundred militants were killed in different encounters, he said that it is only a number. He said that their goal is to maintain conducive atmosphere in the valley so that it could become a prosperous state and could be developed like other states of the country.

In reply to a question about the speculation that one militant killed in today’s encounter is behind the assassination of Shujaat Bukhari,  AK Bhat said that the matter is being investigated by police. He added that arrest of women over ground workers is worrisome said that it is not proper to involve women in conflict.

On Srinagar Hizb militants meeting, the army Commander said “we are verifying the facts whether meeting really took place or not.

Gen Bhatt while prasing people of northern region of Kashmir said “people here always supported us to maintain peaceful environment”.

He said that to target civilians in this war is a big “weakness of militants”.

He said that since last 12 months we have killed militants in hundreds and this all indicates that we want a peaceful environment in the Kashmir so that people can live peacefully.

Bhatt said that earlier many girls were involved in the war but we want that women should not be used in this line.
