JD Agriculture inspects Integrated Mushroom Development Centre

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 28: Joint Director Agriculture, Extension Kashmir, Abdul Raheem Samoon along with Project Coordinator Mushroom today inspected the Integrated Mushroom Development Centre, Lalmandi and took stock of the pasteurised compost ready for distribution to farmers.

While interacting with the Scientists and Research Assistants at Integrated Mushroom Development Centre, Joint Director was informed that in Integrated Mushroom Development Centre, Lalmandi pasteurised compost is being prepared scientifically, and at present, 7 tonnes of pasteurised spawned compost is ready for distribution among the farmers.

Further, it was informed that Hanjura village in District Budgam has been identified as cluster village for Mushroom demonstration, and Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam has identified 100 farmers in this village. These farmers will be covered under demonstration and would be provided with 10 bags of pasteurised spawned compost, weighing 7 Kgs each, along with 10 Kgs of casing material on 100% subsidy, to each farmer.

The village has been taken as cluster village in Mushroom cultivation to gain the interest of farmers and to give the boost to their economy. Experts said that the yield of 1.5 to 2 kgs of mushroom can be realized from each bag of the compost.
