Two civilians were abducted from Meemender village of Shopian district on Saturday evening. A police official identified them as Hakib Javed Ganie of Meemander and Ishfaq Ahmad of Pudsoo.

Their abduction came even as two among the three civilians kidnapped from a bakery early today were released.

Shahid Ahmad Ganie, Farooq Ahmad – both residents of Saidpora Payeen and Huzaif Ashraf Kutay of Manzgam area of the neighbouring Kulgam district, were abducted earlier today.

While Shahid and Farooq were released today evening, the throat-slit body of Huzaif was recovered from an orchard area in Hermain village.

“Huzaif’s body was handed over to his family after completion of the medico-legal formalities,” a police official said.

He said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated in the matter.

Militants had abducted and later killed Nadeem Manzoor, a resident of Safanagri area, on Thursday night.

HM releases another video showing youth confessing to being informer

Srinagar, Nov 17: A day after Hizbul Mujahideen released a video purportedly showing militants killing a youth, the outfit on Saturday released another video which seems to justify the killing of said youth for him being an alleged Army informer.

The earlier video, which has gone viral on social media, shows militants pumping a volley of bullets into Nadeem Manzoor, whose body was recovered Friday morning.

A resident of Safanagri village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, Manzoor was kidnapped by militants on Thursday night.

The militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the killing.

In another video shot before his killing, and released today, Manzoor, in militants’ custody, is seen telling them that he informed the Army about the presence of militants in his native village.

Hizb commander Riyaz Naikoo, in an audio message released along with the video, defended Manzoor’s killing, saying he was an informer of the Army.

The Hizb commander also warned panchs and sarpanches of “justice”, saying “they should wait for their turn”. (With PTI inputs)
