Locals here told Kashmir Images that in absence of a proper dumping site, Bandipora town has been literally turned into a dump as waste material can be found littered  in the entire town.

They said that waste material that is collected from various areas of the Town is dumped on the roads and thereby causing inconvenience to the residents and pedestrians alike.

“This waste emanates foul smell which can prove health hazardous for the residents here,” they added.

Locals alleged the authorities of turning a blind eye towards the issue. “The waste material is left unattended for many days on the roads as MC employees hardly visit the Town.”

When contacted Executive Officer (EO) Municipal Committee (MC) Bandipora, Wali Mohammad, he said: “We are looking for a suitable land in the town that can be used as a dumping site; however, we have not been able to find it yet.”

The EO MC Bandipora refuted the claims of locals that waste material is not cleared from roads. “Our employees are clearing the garbage on daily basis and disposing it near Symbol area,” he said.
