Jammu/Srinagar: As the weather office has forecast fresh snow and rainfall for next three days, the minimum temperatures increased across Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

An official of MET Deptt said that there is a likelihood of light to moderate widespread rain and snow beginning from Monday.

However, the official added that the spell is likely to be less severe than the previous one witnessed here on November 3.

The overnight partial cloud cover has helped in the improvement of temperatures in the state.

The minimum temperature was 3.2 and 13.5 degrees Celsius in Srinagar and Jammu cities respectively, while Pahalgam recorded 0.7 and Gulmarg minus 3.5 degrees.

Leh town recorded minus 1.3 and Kargil 6.6 as the night’s lowest.

In the Jammu region, Katra recorded 12.4 degrees Celsius, Batote 7.6, Bannihal 4.6 and Bhaderwah 4.3, the MET official said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Kashmir received untimely snowfall on November 03 putting the life out of gear.

The power supply to almost entire Valley got snapped and the water supply too was the worst hit. The Valley also was disconnected from rest of the country both in terms of surface as well as air traffic.

Though the air traffic was restored the next day, the surface communication is yet to be restored fully.

Meanwhile, the administration on Sunday ordered the closure of Mughal road for next three days in view of prediction of widespread rains and snow in Jammu and Kashmir.

An official said the road would remain closed from tomorrow until further orders.

The road had remained closed for eight days from October 31 after heavy snowfall.
