Jammu, Nov 11:  A group of Kashmiri migrant pandits Sunday staged a sit-in here demanding strict action against those who murdered a community member on the eve of his daughter’s marriage, officials said.

Dilip Langar (59) was allegedly stabbed to death by three youths on Wednesday after he objected to a fight between two groups of men at K K Resorts, where his relatives were staying for the marriage of his daughter the next day.

All the three accused were arrested later.

On Sunday, a the protesters including family members of the deceased gathered at the exhibition ground here demanding severe punishment for the culprits and monetary compensation for the bereaved family.

National Conference provincial president Devender Singh Rana joined the protesters and expressed solidarity with them.

“The death in most tragic and has shocked the society of Jammu as a whole. Such sort of lawlessness is worrisome for all,” said Rana, the MLA from Nagrota constituency where Langar resided.

The NC leader urged Governor Satya Pal Malik and Advisor K Vijay Kumar for ensuring fast track judicial dispensation of the murder and delivering justice to the family.

Rana supported the demand for grant of adequate compensation and a job to a member of the victim’s family.
