DDC Budgam inaugurates under-19 Girls inter-school Sports Tournament

BUDGAM, NOVEMBER 10: District Development Commissioner Budgam, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today inaugurated the 2ndBudgam District Games for the deaf sportspersons at sports stadium Budgam.

The sports event was organized by District Youth Service and Sports Officer Budgam in association with District Budgam association of Deaf.

Speaking on the occasion DDC lauded the determination of young boys and girls and said that inspite of numerous hurdles they are facing these young boys and girls have risen to the occasion and competed in various events.

She said that these events should be organized annually so that talent of these specially-abled players can come to fore and other specially-abled persons can follow these players so that they can also live a dignified and prosperous life.

The participating players including many who have played national games as well and brought laurels to the district.

Two-day games event saw the competition by the specially-abled players participating in the volleyball, athletics, badminton, shot put and other sports activities.

Also, 35 sports kits were distributed among the players.

Later on DDC interacted with the players and office bearers of the association and inquired about their issues and assured all possible help including a provision in Khelo India initiative.

On the occasion mementoes and medals were distributed among national games winners including gold medalist winner in wrestling.

The DYSSO, Balbir Singh and a large number of people were also present in the audience.
