RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 06: Intensifying the drive to check food adulteration and other violations ahead of Diwali festival, various team of Legal Metrology, Food Safety, and Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department today conducted market checking in various Rajouri markets.

The team constituted on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, inspected various food establishments including shops of sweets, provisional stores, bakery, fast-food around here in Sunderbani, Nowshera and Rajouri town.

During the drive, 12 shopkeepers were challaned under different sections for unsanitary and unhygienic conditions. The cases were compounded on spot and a fine of Rs 2500 was realized from the erring traders.

The inspecting team also lifted and seized four quintals of milk and milk products. A number of different food items found unwholesome or expired and destroyed on the spot.

The shopkeepers were directed to prominently display rate lists, keep shops neat and clean and ensure that all package commodities sold to the consumers must bear MRP, Package date, Net Content, complete address and consumer care number.

It was given out that such drives will be conducted on a routine basis so that the quality of commodities is ensured.
