Ensure better utilization of resources for profitable outcomes: Secy APD

BANDIPORA OCTOBER 31: Secretary Agriculture Production Department (APD), Manzoor Ahmad Lone today convened a meeting to review the progress achieved under horticultural and agriculture sectors in the Bandipora District.

The Secretary on the occasion directed the concerned officers to identify villages to be designated as model villages on a pilot basis under Sericulture and mushroom cultivation. He stressed for integrated and double cropping system in order to have desired returns from these sectors.

He asked officers to introduce new variety seeds, cash crops and disseminate real-time information among the farmers regarding scientific methods, efficient cropping and modern technology involved. He urged upon the officers of agriculture and allied sectors to ensure better utilization of resources for profitable outcomes.

Lone said the focus should be given to vegetable cultivation, cash crop products, Beekeeping and silkworm rearing keeping in view of topography in the area. He directed for identifying land in the district for introduction and promotion of high-density plantation to boost Horticulture sector for which he assured the approval of vermicompost units, bore wells, reservoirs and requisite mechanization.

He said 1300 pack houses and vermicompost units would be developed in the district. He also directed horticulture department to identify land for fruit Mandis at Sumbal and Bandipora.

Director Agriculture Altaf Ajaz Andrabi, Director Horticulture Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, Director Sericulture Shabnum Gulzar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Joint Director Planning Ab. majeed, District and Sectoral officers of Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, officers of KVK and other concerned were present in the meeting.
