Pulwama: Gunfight broke out in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Sources said that joint government forces launched search operations in the Chankitar village of Tral area.
As joint forces of 42RR, CRPF and SOG intensified searches in the village, the hiding militants fired upon government forces which triggered an encounter.
An official confirmed the gunfight and said “an encounter is underway in the Chankitar village.”
An exchange of fire was going on when this report was filed.
