30TH J&K Volleyball Championship inaugurated at Polo Ground Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 22: The 30th J&K Junior Volleyball Championship for Boys and Girls organized by Volleyball Association of J&K state under the aegis of J&K state Sports Council was declared open by the Chief Guest Dr Naseem Javid Choudhary Secretary J&K State Sports Council at Polo Ground Srinagar today.

The 3-day Mega event in which 17 teams in boys section and 11 teams in girls from across the state comprising nearly 400 players and officials are participating. The Chief Guest lauded the organizers in holding the state level Championship at Srinagar after a gap of over 25 years.

Dr Choudhary appreciated the efforts of participants especially all the south districts of Kashmir Valley for the active participation in the championship conveying the message of peace and harmony with special emphasis for eradication of drug menace among youth. He praised VAJK Office bearers team who are working hard to make Volleyball game popular in every nook & corner of the J&K state, he had special praise for Leh district girls contingent for their participation for first time in the championship.

Amongst dignitaries Abdul Quyam Chief Sports Officer, J&K state Sports Council, the office bearers of Volleyball Association of J&K Kuldip Magotra Chief Executive officer, Abdul Ahad Shah Vice president, VK Magotra Gen Secretary, RC Sharma Treasurer, Rajeev Dogra Volleyball coach (SAI) & Various Secretaries of District Volleyball Associations of J&K state also graced the inaugural function.

V.K MAGOTRA GEN SECRETARY OF VAJK speaking on the Occasion revealed that since the inception of the Association we have constituted 16 Volleyball district Units out of total 22 districts of the state. In this Championship Srinagar district Volleyball Association is hosting the chairmanship by making elaborate arrangements of boarding /lodging in Hotels within vicinity of venue of championship.

Special 3 courts for boys and one court for girls in the premises of Women College, MA Road Srinagar have been set up per latest VFI guidelines. For girls section event Prof Shaheen Altaf Principal Women College   Srinagar has extended her full cooperation.

The Gen Secretary VAJK has also revealed that the Association is upholding its mandate of “KHELO GE TO KHEELO GE” to promote communal Harmony and to shun the social evils including drug menace among youth.

The Chief Guest was honored by a memento along with Chief Sports Officer by VAJK led by KULDIP MAGOTRA CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER. Mohammad Tariq executive member of VAJK conducted the proceedings of the function effectively.
