Farooq Abdullah inaugurates 7th JK Golf Association tournament at Pahalgam

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 20: Member Parliament Farooq Abdullah Saturday inaugurated 2-day 7th J&K Golf Association Tournament at Pahalgam Golf Course here.

GoC 15 Corps, Lt Gen Anil Kumar Bhatt, Director Tourism Kashmir Tasaduq Jeelani, former JK Bank Chairman M Y Khan, MD Cum CEO J&K Golf Development and Management Authority Ghalib Mohiuddin Shah and President J&K Golf Association Mushtaq Burza were also present at the function.

The tournament is being jointly organized by Department of Tourism Kashmir and J&K Golf Association. The first leg of the tournament was completed at Pahalgam Golf Course in which three times winner of Asian Tour, Shiv Kapoor also participated.

Speaking on the occasion, Tasaduq Jeelani said the State is a complete golfing circuit which needs to be promoted through golf tournaments.

“The players like Shiv Kapoor have international fame and their presence in our courses will definitely promote J&K as a golfing destination. We are expecting good number of golfers to visit the State for more such tournaments in the future,” he said.

He said the department has been participating in the travel marts and other travel shows where it has promoted golf potential of the State.

“The golfers are also high-end tourists who often bring along their families too for sightseeing and shopping of famed handicraft products,” he said.

Tasaduq said the golfers have many choices to play at many breathtaking locations across the state.

“Pahalgam Golf Course and Royal Springs Golf Course are some of the best courses in Asia, attracting golfers from the country and abroad,” said Shah.

The second leg of the tournament and prize distribution of the golf tournament will be held at Royal Springs Golf Course on Sunday.
