Srinagar, October 19: Hurriyat Conference (M) on Friday stated that the aggressive policy and approach of New Delhi towards the people of Kashmir is becoming ‘more brutal and aggressive’ as almost every day Kashmiri youth are being killed and targeted ‘ruthlessly’.

Hurriyat (M) in a statement issued here urged the world community including UN, OIC and other organisations across the globe to take serious note of unabated human rights violations, killings, maiming and thrashing of youth, men and women, arrest of resistance leaders and slapping them with the draconian PSA which has resulted in a reign of terror in every nook and corner of the Valley. The statement said that “there is hardly any area in Kashmir where forces have not let loose state terror through the barrel of their guns.”

It lashed out at the present government in Kashmir over the strict imposition of curfew across downtown for the third consecutive day and locking down of historic and grand masjid of Kashmir, the Jama Masjid, for 2nd consecutive week and 15th time this year by disallowing the people from offering the congregational prayers on Fridays there thereby hurting the religious sentiments of thousands of people across the Valley, terming it as a direct interference into the religious affairs.

Hurriyat (M) strongly denounced the continuous house confinement of its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq there by barring him from carrying out his social, religious and political activities and termed it as ‘an utter frustration’ on part of the authorities and ‘sheer vendetta’. The Hurriyat said that hurting the religious sentiments of people of Kashmir time and again by barring congregational prayers at the Jama Masjid is highly unacceptable and calls for condemnation at all levels. The statement urged the global organisations fighting for the religious freedom to take serious note of frequent forcible closure of Kashmir’s main mosque.

Hurriyat (M) strongly condemned the forces action who went berserk in Trichal village of Pulwama by thrashing to the inmates to the pulp including women, elderly and youth terming it as act of frustration. Meanwhile, on the directions of Mirwaiz, a high level delegation led by senior Hurriyat and Awami Action Committee leader Ghulam Nabi Zaki visited the houses of Mehrajudin Bangroo, Rayees Sofi and Faid Mushtaq Waza at Fateh kadal and Khanyar and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

The delegation offered congregational Friday prayers for the all the three martyrs and vowed to take forward the mission of martyrs. Hurriyat also paid tributes to four armed youth killed at the LoC in Uri area of north Kashmir and also the two youth killed in a shootout at Baramulla district. Hurriyat (M) said that “the stubborn approach of the New Delhi is pushing Kashmiri youth to the wall and forcing them to choose armed means of resistance to fight the oppression and repression.”
