DGP visits Leh,Kargil; Chairs officers meetings addresses police Darbars

Srinagar, October 14: Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir,  Dilbag Singh accompanied by IGP Kashmir S.P Pani and DIG police Central Kashmir Range V.K Birdi Sunday visited Leh and Kargil  where he chaired officers meets and held interactions with Jawans.

He also visited District Jail Leh and took stock of its security and facilities being provided to inmates.

In a press statement emailed to Kashmir Images, a police spokesman said: “DGP while addressing the Darbars at District police Lines Leh and Kargil expresed his pleasure in visiting these districts and expressed his satisfaction over the working of personnel deployed in these districts. He said that Leh and Kargil being tourist destinations attract good number of  tourists and added that utmost care need to  taken while discharging duties as conduct of an individual police jawan reflects upon the entire police department.He advised that self composure is an absolute imperative under any circumstances.”

While mentioning different challenges being faced by police, he expressed happiness over peaceful environment prevailing in Leh and Kargil but directed the officers that mischievous elements should be dealt with strictly as per law.

Pointing towards the militancy in state DGP said that we have lost 39 fellow policemen in our fight against this menace. “We are proud of their sacrifices and the whole police department stands by their families,” DGP added.

He expressed gratitude towards central and state Governments for increasing financial assistance in favour of policemen and remuneration of SPOs. He said that long pending matters have been expedited by saying that in the last 20 days, two thousand policemen have been promoted. DGP said that as on date no SRO case or application is pending in Police Headquarters.

DGP while referring the demands put forth during these darbars, assured that the problems and demands in the form of concession in air travel during winters, availability of edibles in winter , appropriate clothing  in extreme cold climate will  be looked into on priority.

Dilbag Singh said that he and his team are committed for the welfare of jawans and SPOs.

The officers and men of district police, Leh and Kargil, IRP, SDRF, police Telecommunication, CID, police medical attended these darbars.

Earlier, DGP visited District jail Leh where he inspected prisoners accommodation, newly constructed medical aid centre, surveillance mechanism and troops guarding the jail premises. Taking keen interest in the welfare of prisoners and staff he suggested various measures to upgrade infrastructure vis-a-vis improvement in basic amenities

Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa and Deputy Commissioner Kargil Vikas Kundal attended the meetings at Leh and Kargil respectively.

During his visit to SSP Leh and SSP Kargil briefed the DGP regarding various aspects and security scenario in their respective districts.
