Advisor Ganai reviews progress on Jammu Ropeway project

JAMMU, OCTOBER 13: Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai today reviewed the progress on prestigious Jammu Ropeway Project during his visit to the construction site. He also took a ride from Bahu to Mahamaya.

Managing Director JK Cable Car Corporation, Shamim Ahmad Wani besides Engineers and officers of the other departments accompanied the Advisor during his visit.

While reviewing the progress of the project, it was informed that the estimated cost of the project is Rs 75 crore out of which 85 percent of total cost of project have been incurred so far. The ropeway from Bahu Fort to Mahamaya has 8 cabins and from Mahamaya to Peer Kho 14 cabins and the total no of towers in section 1(Peer Kho to Mahamaya) and section 2 (Bahu Fort to Mahamaya) are 9 and the critical component are all imported.  With regard to safety of project, all standard operating procedure have been adopted as per the international standards.

Ganai said that the 1.66 kilometre long Jammu Ropeway Project is going to be one of the biggest asset of Jammu for which people have been waiting for many years. He further said that the project is of great importance and going to be the biggest tourist attraction in coming days.

While appreciating the progress of construction work on the project, Advisor asked the concerned authorities to further speeden up the men and machinery to complete the remaining project well in time so that it will open by the end of this year.

He directed the engineers to complete the work on approach roads immediately for easy access by tourists and locals and further instructed them to complete works of restaurants and make them operational at the earliest.

Giving details of the physical achievements of project, MD JKCCC, Shamim Ahmad Wani and concerned engineers informed that work on section 1(Peer Kho to Mahamaya) return and drive station have been completed and rope pulling is under progress and shall be completed very soon.

Ganai observed that the cable car project will provide people a high-quality tourism experience with transportation facility, sightseeing and entertainment.

Later, Advisor along with other senior officers also visited Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex and reviewed the progress of work. He directed the ASI and other concerned agencies to speed up the ongoing construction work for the revival of this precious heritage project.
