Director Agriculture distributes Bee Colonies among Bee keepers

JAMMU, OCTOBER 13: Director Agriculture Jammu, H. K. Razdan, distributed 130 numbers of Bee Colonies among the Bee Keepers of Ramban and Banihal under the Apiculture Convergence Project, Ramban (State Sector Plan).

Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture advised the Bee-Keepers to take full advantage of the scheme through adopting apiculture as employment generating enterprise. He said that beekeeping can be easily integrated with traditional farming by placing the bee colonies in the oilseeds and horticultural crops.  He further directed the officers to work for the formation of Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) for marketing of honey at appropriate rates.

Earlier District Agriculture Officer, Ramban Subash Sharma apprised that 20 Honey Extractors, 3600 artificial feeders, 400 Bee Veils, 400 Hive Tools, 400 Uncapping knifes have been distributed among the among the Bee keepers of district Ramban under State Sector Plan on 80% subsidy during the current year. The farmers of the Banihal, Ramban and Gool Clusters were also being given awareness through trainings and exposure visits to the various Research Institutes/ Universities within/outside state.

Joint Director of Agriculture (Inputs), Jammu, K. S. Sambyal, Deputy Director (Trainings), Sunil Koul, I/C Deputy Director (Central), Jagmohan Bhat, Agriculture Economist, K. K. Sharma, Potaato Development Officer, A. S. Reen, ASCO (I & P) A. H. Salaria, Apiculture Development Assistant, Ramban, Ayaz Reshi besides other officers and field functionaries of the department were present on the occasion.
