Secretary Youth Services & Sports and Information, Sarmad Hafeez, Director General, YS&S, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman and other officers of the sports department also attended the meeting.

To begin with, the Principal Secretary asked the officials to do some ground work and come up with an extensive proposal for organizing a Football Tournament in coming week in the state.

“Besides, the YSS department should also come up with a broader roadmap for organizing sports-related activities in the state,” Navin said, while underlining the importance of sports in modern and progressive societies.

The Principal Secretary suggested various measures for popularizing various sports in the nook and cranny of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the Centre has already allocated a good chunk of funds under Prime Minister’s Development Package for development of sports infrastructure in the state.

“The administration will go out of way to provide necessary facilities for the training of players by setting up the right kind of infrastructure across the state. We will ensure that the talented youth of J&K are provided the right platform to excel in sports and rub shoulders with the best in the field,” he said.
