Chief Secretary reviews development scenario, poll preparedness in Bandipora

BANDIPORA, OCTOBER 07: To review the progress of developmental projects in Bandipora, a high level meeting of officers was convened by Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam at mini secretariat here today.

The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, DIG North Kashmir Atul Kumar Goel, SSP Bandipora, Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, SE PDD, ADDC Bandipora, ACD and other concerned officers.

Chief Secretary took sector-wise review of implementation of all development projects in the district and stressed on time-bond completion of languishing projects.

While reviewing progress in PHE sector, Chief Secretary directed to complete all the languishing on priority. He also stressed for proper functioning and management of filtration plants. He said Rs 45 crore will be sanctioned for various projects including languishing and new ones for the district.

He also took comprehensive review of the functioning of Rural Development Department and stressed upon the officers to accomplish the projects in convergence mode and complete targets in a set time-frame.

Chief Secretary directed Power Development Department for proper implementation of various projects to ensure quality in distribution and transmission network.

The meeting was informed that Receiving Station Gurez has been completed and more tanks are provided to enhance fuel storage capacity to combat power shortage through DG Sets.

Chief Secretary also reviewed the projects of R&B and directed the concerned to ramp up the pace of work on the ongoing projects so that the targets are achieved within stipulated time frame. He stressed for the completion of Khandyal- Gurez road in order to improve the connectivity between Gurez and Bandipora.

Chief Secretary appreciated the efforts of the district administration for satisfactory achievements in different sectors and assured every possible support of the government in ensuring progress and prosperity of the area. He emphasized on strengthening the accountability and transparency of administration.

On the occasion DDC Bandipora projected various public demands like Shifting of Nusoo Bus stand, Parking facility for LMVs, Marriage Hall for main town, Bypass Road from Nadihal to Potushay and Indoor Sports Stadium for Bandipora. He also presented a detailed account of achievements in various sectors including health, education and agriculture etc.

Chief Secretary also reviewed the arrangements put in place by the District administration for the smooth conduct of municipal and Panchayat elections in Bandipora.

He was informed that adequate security measures have been taken and other necessary facilities have been provided by the district administration for the smooth conduct of municipal elections in Bandipora.
