Speaking to ‘Kashmir Images’, Senior Superintend of Police (SSP) Sopore, Javaid Iqbal, said that Tawseef’s dead body with clear bullet wounds was recovered from Check Harwan orchards.

“Police team has inspected the spot and took body into the custody for legal formalities and ascertaining further details; it is clear that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) men have killed him; we will nab culprits very soon as our aim is to provide justice to the family who lost a son,” the police officer added.

Tawseef was abducted from Unisoo village which falls in the jurisdiction of Handwara.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family did not allow hospital authorities to conduct post-mortem of the body and they took Tawseef’s body to home for last rites.

“Yes it is true family members not allow our medical team to conduct post-mortem of the deceased as they took away the body,” concerned Block Medical Officer Dr Sami told ‘Kashmir Images’.

Local journalists who went to Tujjar village to cover the funeral were also not allowed to perform their duties and some were even thrashed by the locals.

Locals informed that Tawseef were later laid to rest in a local graveyard amid sobs and tears.

This is second abduction and killing in Sopore outskirts. On 22th September masked gunmen barged inside the house of a labourer Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, son of Gulam Rasool Mir, at Harwan, Sopore and abducted him. His dead body was found on 24th September from an orchard in Harwan.
