ULB Polls: DEO Kupwara reviews election arrangements

KUPWARA, OCTOBER 05: District Election Officer (DEO) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness regarding the smooth and hassle-free conduct of elections to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

The meeting discussed threadbare all arrangements put in place, essential and integral measures taken and necessary precautions to be ensured during the electoral process.

DEO said that every official concerned with the elections shall endeavour to facilitate the participation of the people particularly youth and ensure enabling environment towards strengthening grass-roots democratic institutions.

He directed the concerned to ensure safe transportation of EVMs to polling centres and back to strong rooms, checking seals of EVMs and sealing of strong rooms.

He said that the staff of the Revenue Department particularly those officers deployed for magisterial duties have the responsibility to forge cooperation with other departments for the successful conduct of the elections.

He urged the concerned to strictly follow the already laid out election plan and work in coordination and synergy for the smooth conduct of elections in the district.

The meeting was attended by SSPs of Kupwara and Handwara, ADC Kupwara and Handwara, ASP Kupwara, District Information Officer, Returning Officers, all Nodal Officers, AROs, Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates, officers from ITBP, CRPF, CAPF, BSF, Tehsildars of Kupwara and Handwara, ARTO Kupwara and other concerned.
