Budgam, Oct 04: The Budgam police on Thursday said that they have arrested a youth from Daulatpora village of Chadoora, who according to them had set Panchayat Ghar in Kultreh village on fire.

In a press conference on Thursday, SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh said, “On September 19, Chadoora police station received information that unknown person has set Panchayat Ghar on fire in Kultreh village. Accordingly, FIR was registered under section 436 RPC and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and investigation was launched.”

Singh said that during investigation they got “important clues and leads” from the scene of crime, which led to the arrest of youth namely Muzaffar Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Wani, resident of Daulatpora Chadoora.

SSP said that the youth has admitted his involvement in torching Panchayat Ghar, adding that police have also recovered clothes, worn by the accused at the time of incident.

Further, he said that investigation is going on and it is yet to come out, on whose directions Panchayat Ghar was set on fire.

Earlier, police spokesman in a statement said that they conducted a search in a house in Daulatpora after obtaining search warrant from the court.

He had also said, “Continuing its investigation of a sensitive case registered at Budgam, incriminating material like 3 magazines of AK 47, one pouch and other articles were recovered during the search.”
