Among them, two candidates were fielded by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), one by Congress and one was Independent.

Interestingly, the BJP candidates include father and son who had filed nomination papers for Karipora and Haknipora respectively.

Congress candidate had submitted nominations for Haknipora, while Independent had filed for Karipora.

Now, no candidate is in fray for the post of Councilor in Haknipora as both the candidates withdrew papers.

In Karipora, the withdrawal of nominations by Congress and Independent candidates have left arena free for Congress to win unopposed.

Sources said that the family members and relatives have compelled the candidates to withdraw nominations.

Meanwhile, the last date for withdrawing of candidature in Budgam municipal committee was September 28.
