SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 29: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Mohammad Saleem today inaugurated a sports event ‘Cricket Premier League’ here under ‘Khelo India’ initiative.

The event is being organized by District Administration Shopian and District Youth Services and Sports Shopian and was inaugurated in presence of Assistant Commissioner Revenue and District Youth Services and Sports Officer Shopian.

As many as 16 cricket teams across the district are participating in the event.

On the occasion, the ADDC highlighted the significance of sports activities in shaping the overall personality of youth. He said that the valley is bestowed with huge capabilities and there is a dire need to provide a platform for its utilization.

Terming sports activities the best method of relieving youth from all ill and hazardous practices including drug addiction, the ADDC assured that district administration will take every possible initiative to develop the sports infrastructure in the district.

Officers from various departments, a large gathering of spectators, prominent citizens and other concerned were present on the occasion.
