SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 26: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma along with District Development Commissioner, Sushma Chauhan today interacted with Self help Groups formed under Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihood Mission (JKSRLM).

On the occasion, Div Com exhorted upon the participants to avail the benefits envisaged under the mission and strive for their economic upliftment.

Reviewing the achievements under JKSRLM, the Div Com said that this mission envisages reaching out, mobilizing and supporting poor households across the district. The Div Com said that livelihood mission mainly focuses on women empowerment, providing them avenues through formation of self-help groups for which State Government is providing adequate financial support.” Women are supported in different sectors including mushroom cultivation, horticulture, handicrafts, agriculture, dairy farming, provision stores, poultry farming, saffron cultivation, dress making etc”, added the Div Com and asked the concerned to create requisite   awareness among the stakeholders.

Later, the Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner inspected works carried under Horticulture dept. and Swach Bharat Mission.

The Div Com inspected the Orchid developed by farmers at village Karallian, block Ramgarh with assistance of Horticulture department. He urged on local farmers to constitute a group of farmers and encourage them for undertaking mixed cropping, cash cropping like Amla, Lemon, flowers etc. The necessary help regarding transportation and storage would be made available for them. He also emphasized about availing different government subsidies and financial assistance schemes.

Later, the Div Com and DC Visited village Gawal, tehsil Bari-Brahmna and inspected IHHL units constructed under Swach Bharat Mission. The Div Com expressed his satisfaction over the progress. He said that focus should be on sustaining the progress and ensuring that people are made aware of the benefits of cleanliness.

Among others present during the visit were Chief Horticulture Officer, Chaman Lal Sharma, ACD Samba Aijaz Qaiser, SDM vijaypur Vijay Kumar, Tehsildar Ramgarh and Sambabesides other officials.
