Srinagar, Sept 24:  Programme Coordinator National Service Scheme (NSS) University of Kashmir celebrated the NSS Foundation Day during a function on Monday here.

In a statement issued here, KU spokesman said, “The function was presided over by Prof Talat Ahmad Vice Chancellor of the university in presence of Registrar of the University Prof Neelofar Khan, Dean Student Welfare Prof Raies Qadri, Dr Shamim Ahmad Shah Coordinator NSS University Of Kashmir,NSS Programme Officers.”

The celebrations also mark the Golden Jubilee year of the NSS.

The spokesman said the volunteers from different colleges and +2 institutions participated in the function. “The enthusiasm of the NSS volunteers was reflected through various cultural items, which they presented on the stage, NSS volunteers presented an NSS song, a skit and also spoke on the present socio environmental issues in the society.”

“Vice Chancellor KU Prof Talat Ahmad advised students and volunteers to be focused in their life. He also stated that digressions and distractions are the great enemies which waste the human resource and divert them to addiction and other anti-social activities. He urged them to be target oriented for utilizing the human potential which is the great strength of a nation,” the spokesman added.

The spokesman further added that Prof Nelofar Khan in her remarks stressed on volunteers to become role models in the society by making awareness about the social evils and other issues confronting the society. “Dr Shamim while welcoming the guests gave a detailed overview of NSS activities at university, college and +2 institutions,” said the KU spokesman.
